1936 silver Record pocket watch with chain.
The watch has a good quality stem-winding movement, 17 jewels, four adjustments, which is working nicely. The movement has a Breguet hairspring for enhanced precision and screw set jewels, and it is all protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the back covers for Birmingham 1936, with a case maker’s mark for the Birmingham based Dennison Watch Case Company, a prolific manufacturer of cases for various watch makers. The case is in good condition with just light surface marks, nothing too detrimental at all.
The watch glass is in lovely condition.
The dial is signed Record, and it also has the name of the original retailer, Harris Stone. Harris Stone was born in Russia in 1863. He emigrated to the UK and set up a successful antique jewellery business within the city of Leeds, from where he traded until after the second World War. The real star of this watch is the unusual Gothic style numbers. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There are a couple of hairlines at the top of the dial but they are faint.
The watch comes with a single white metal chain, 37cm long.
The watch and chain will come in a new presentation box.
