1940 Cortebert pocket watch, Winegartens, Railway Regulator

1940 Cortebert pocket watch, Winegartens Railway Regulator.
The watch has a 15 jewel Cortebert 534 stem-winding movement which is working nicely. This same movement was supplied as an ebauche to Rolex, including for their military watches.
The watch measures 57mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so slightly larger than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is nickel. The back of the watch is signed Winegartens Railway Regulator with an image of a steam engine to the centre. The case is in good condition.
The watch has a glass lens. The main face is in good condition. There is some nibbling around the angled edge.
The dial is signed Winegartens, 145 Bishopsgate, London EC2. It is in very nice condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
Winegartens was a prestigious London-based jeweller and watch retailer. They traded from the 1930s until the 1990s when they were acquired by the Goldsmiths group. They were renowned for producing their own line of high-quality watches, including "Railway Regulator" pocket watches and various Swiss made wristwatches.
The watch comes with a single chain, 35cm long including the T-bar and the clasp, and a fob.
Also included is the original 1940 receipt from Winegartens, together with the original Watch Guarantee.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
