1940s Helvetia military pocket watch

1940s Helvetia military pocket watch.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, calibre 32A, which is working nicely. The movement, with Geneva stripes, is signed General Watch Co, Switzerland and Helvetia.
The brand name Helvetia was registered by Louis Brandt & Frere in 1892. Two years later, the same company registered the name Omega. The Omega range because hugely successful so, to make room for the increased production, the Helvetia range was transferred to a new company, the General Watch Company, with Louis Brandt being one of the directors alongside Edouard Boillat and Louis Courvoisier.
The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is chromium plated and has general surface marks but overall very acceptable for its age. The case back has the military markings, together with the military arrow or pheon.
The acrylic lens has minor marking but again, nothing too serious at all.
The signed dial has several hairline cracks to the right of the dial centre. Original hands… the radium paint has been removed from the numbers and hands at some point in its life.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
