1960s Sekonda (Poljot) Strela 3017 Chronograph.

Case size Dia 36mm exc button
Strap size 18mm
Ref 1330
Sekonda (Poljot) Strela 3017 Chronograph – c.1960s–70s
A stunning example in unworn condition of the famed Sekonda/Poljot Strela 3017, powered by the 19‑jewel Poljot 3017 hand‑wound column‑wheel movement derived from the Swiss Venus 150. The black dial in stunning condition.
Originally issued exclusively to Soviet Air Force officers, the Strela became legendary after being worn by cosmonauts Pavel Belyayev and Alexei Leonov during the 1965 Voskhod‑2 mission and the first human spacewalk. Civilian production followed later that year, with Sekonda branding used for UK distribution.Strela Sekonda Chronograph
A Strela model with the Poljot 3017 column-wheel chronograph movement was used in space by Russian cosmonaut Alexey Alexandrovich Gubarev during the Soyuz-28 mission. Gubarev and his colleague Vladimir Remek – the first non-Soviet, non-American to travel to space – were launched aboard Soyuz-28 on March 2, 1978. To put things into context, this is after the American's moon landing (1969) and Leonov's Spacewalk (1965). The crew docked with the orbiting Salyut-6 space station. On Gubarev’s wrist, a black STRELA (labeled SEKONDA). Established in 1966, Sekonda started out as a British brand offering a collection of mechanical watches originally manufactured in Russia.
Each of our watches is carefully cleaned and serviced, and comes complete with a one-year warranty and a new presentation box.
