19C oak bookcase on chest housekeeper's cupboard
Antique large 19C oak bookcase on chest of drawers housekeeper's cupboard.
Full of charm and character, this item has early 19C origins, with many later alterations.
This item has a great look and is a bit different.
Very solid, heavy and all of the oak lined drawers slide freely. Two adjustable shelves.
There have been many alterations to this item and indeed the top may not have started out life with the chest (which also shows signs of alteration). There is a later plywood back (to the top), bracket feet and cornice. One drawer has a later divider. The handles on the chest could be period originals.
Overall maximum dimensions 1000mmW x 535mmD x 1930mmH (800mmH chest + 1130mmH top).
Historical knocks, marks, cracking, scratching, wear, imperfections, repairs and alterations as is usual. There is a key to fit the glazed door only. Two drawers have no locks and the other two have different locks which have not been tested, nor do we have keys for these. A few historical woodworm holes that we have treated for good measure.
Please note that this item is large and heavy. Please make sure before buying that it will fit in and can be maneuvered into the room that it is intended for. The customer will need to provide 1 strong able bodied person to assist our driver with carrying.
