We are pleased to offer for sale this very large and well executed oil on canvas which is, unfortunately, unsigned. The painting depicts a tranquil scene of a lake, nestling at the foot of rolling hills, after a heavy snow fall. The banks of the lake are covered with trees and the edges of the lake are frozen. The sky is that almost luminous grey, tinged with pink, that you sometimes find when there is more snow to come.

Unfortunately, the artist hasn't signed his or her work, so we have no biographical information to offer. However, the artist has painted the work on canvas supplied by John B. Smith of 117 Hampstead Road, London, and this would date it to pre 1922, as after that date the company became Limited.

The painting has been newly framed in a 3 1/2" ornate, swept gilt frame to suit and is ready to hang.
