This is a superb, solid antique mahogany 'Gainsborough' armchair, with the typical generous and wide accommodating seat and high back, this
open sided armchair has short supporting arms.
Usually, antique Gainsborough armchairs are upholstered in leather, this one has been newly upholstered in good quality leather hide and edged in brass stud work.
This English, 19th century antique mahogany armchair features Oriental Chippendale style blind fret work.
In excellent condition, the armchair frame being very strong and sturdy, the mahogany colour is period and lovely deep and rich.
