This is a rare and beautiful continental parquetry inlaid antique jewellery box. It has a canted rectangular form design with architectural details on the smaller sides. The lid has a carved central panel of flowers, vines and leaves with a rose as its centre piece. On the inside of the lid is a mirror surrounded by the original velvet. When opened, an interim lid of tumbling block design is revealed. A brass ring pull is at the base and is used to lift the parquetry-designed lid.
