Fine quality Chinese carved and gilded panel dating from the 19th Century which is quite large at 39 by 30cm. It is very decorative and would make an attractive wall hanging.

The delightful composition comprises four figures in a landscape containing a tree, rocks, a path, a building, a bird and clouds. The central figure is a high ranking woman in a chair with wheels being pushed by a servant. A bearded man in a long flowing robe on horseback occupies the right part of the composition with a man carrying produce or water occupying the top left.

Labels on the back indicate that it was purchased in Hong Kong. A more recent label with a price of £380 suggests that it was also marketed/sold in the UK in more recent times.

We have a trusted delivery man who is a experienced in transporting antiques, pictures and fragile items. He can deliver to most places on mainland England and Wales and, depending on where he is on his schedule, it may take a few days or up to 4 weeks. Other couriers are available for Scotland and North Wales or where a shorter time frame is required. Purchases can also be collected in person from the Tunbridge Wells area in SE England.
Dimensions39 cm x 30 cm x 3.5cm thick Category Antique Wood Carvings Period Late 19th Century Antiques Origin Chinese Condition The panel, generally, is in good condition. There is some minor damage including cracking of the border though it hasn't effected the back board or the carving itself, three old repairs to the raised border where wood has been let in, a small section of trellis appears to be missing at the top towards the left and a small piece of the tree trunk also appears to be missing. Nothing is loose so it looks as if it has been adequately secured in the past. Item code as1016a003 Status Sold
