This an elm eating bowl, these are what bought about the expression "spoon food or being spoon fed". Back when these were the norm all preparation would be done before cooking and the only thing used to eat with was the spoon and they too were often wooden. The outside is noticeably ringed from being turned on a pole lathe with a chisel that might have been sharper. All part of its story, as are several ancient worm holes but treated nonetheless. Recently acquired from a large private collection.
