19th Century English Oak Partners Desk

19th Century English oak desk having a makers label of G. Bartholomew & Co, Finsbury London.
A sturdy partners desk with old tooled red leather writing surface on top surrounded by a large moulded border. Three reeded drawers in the frieze, supported by shaped brackets. Pedestals contain shelf space, drawers and cupboards to both sides. Supported on a plinth base. Having original brass knobs on all drawers.
George Bartholomew & Co. (1850-1882) were antique furniture makers and upholsterers, established by William Bartholomew. The Furniture Gazette of 1873 described details of their stock including drawing room and dining room furniture in styles of medieval, renaissance, early English and gothic. They participated in various London exhibitions.
A very unusual desk, the style we have not seen before, would look very stylish dressed with books and items.
