19th Century English Regency Period Whatnot

A Stylish English Regency Period Mahogany and Ebonised Whatnot.
This very attractive whatnot features four tiers supported on a series of finely turned and elegant tapering ebonised columns. There are four thicker columns, one to each corner, and a slimmer example in the centre of the sides of each tier as well. The piece stands on bun feet, quite an unusual choice for the period but very effective. The top tier has a raised edge moulding on three sides.
The combination of ebonised and mahogany surfaces was a popular one in the regency period but is rarely found on whatnots. This, plus the attractive colour and patination of the mahogany, makes this a particularly stylish example.
