19th Century French Amboyna Wood Keepsake Box
Beautiful 19th Century French Amboyna Wood Keepsake Box with Kingwood Veneer Bands and Brass Strips to the borders. Beautiful inlay in the lid centre. There is a little bit of filling that has been used to replace some missing inlay on the scroll between the 12 and 3 o’clock positions but this does not detract from the beauty of the box. All of the other inlays are very good and the amboyna and kingwood is fantastic.
Interior has original lining with only one small part of the lining with some small pulled threads, about 1 inch . All of the fixing thread covered studs are still there. The hinge and lock are original and there is a working key included.
The box measures about 20 x 20 x 8 cms (8” x 8” x 3”) and stands on the original round brass feet.
