19th Century Fruitwood Lace Maker's Stool

A 19th Century fruitwood lace maker's stool with iron stretchers to accommodate the clogs worn by the workers. The stool stands on turned legs. The stool is in a lovely worn, original condition, the thick seat has a double rim and shoes the wear of years of use. The colour and patina are superb. The condition of this antique stool is good considering its long life of practical use. There is slight wear to the base of one leg, this does not affect the stability of this robust stool. It stands solidly with no wobbles. A good example of industry in the early 19th Century when English lace makers worked in their own home. This is a useful, interesting and attractive piece to place in any home.
