19th Century Mahogany Estate Desk, c.1860
A very substantial 19th century mahogany estate desk of excellent quality, c.1860.
The leather inset top has gilt and blind stamped decoration to the leather inset with cross banded moulded edges above nine solid dovetailed drawers surrounding an arched kneehole. The whole desk is one single piece.
There are scuffs to the original leather top and knocks and scuffs to the extremities commensurate with age (please see photographs). Illegible writing to the backboard. Good colour throughout.
The piece is unusually high giving it a great presence in the room, and makes it suitable for use as a standing desk if desired.
A handsome one of a kind piece.
