19th Century Scottish Reclining Library Chair
19th century Scottish reclining library reading chair, made of walnut with an arch framed back, padded arms and turned supports. The large seat has a bow front over turned legs which stands on the original castors. Upholstered in black leather, the back being deeply buttoned. The reclining mechanism works from a brass pull button on the side which allows the backrest to be set in different positions and is stamped P.Reid & Co Kilm'k. In good condition, no rips or repairs to the leather. The studio lighting has lightened the shade of the wood along the top rail.

I don't buy any items that need major restoration, but any loose joints are re-glued. Occasionally, some items may have small amounts of historic extinct woodworm, never enough to affect the integrity of the item, and is always treated as a matter of course. We try to describe and show our items the best we can, and we use studio lighting which sometimes lightens the colour slightly on some of the furniture. All lamps are rewired and PAT tested. Every item we sell we would have in our home (some of them have been!!) It is impossible to describe every item fully, so please feel free to email or call for more information or any queries you may have. The items will have no major defects but will show signs of normal age related wear and use. I would prefer the items to show its life rather than strip it and re-polish it, as it's only original once!
