This superb quality and very striking late 19th C. mahogany Chippendale style corner cabinet was made by Edwards & Roberts, who were well-known cabinet makers of the period. The firm Edwards and Roberts were among the best English antique furniture cabinet makers of the second half of the eighteenth century. The company was founded in 1845 and by 1854 was trading as ‘Edwards and Roberts’, 21 Wardour Street, Antique and Modern Cabinet Makers and Importers of Ancient Furniture’. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers and the firm produced high quality antique furniture.
The cabinet features ornate ‘C’ scrolls, icicles and florals thru out the piece, and is stamped with the makers mark on the lower door. It measures 30 ¼ in – 76.8 cm wide, 18 in – 45.7 cm deep and 85 ½ in – 217.2 cm in height. This exceptional cabinet would not only be a wonderful focal point for several rooms, but also utilize hard to fill spaces and areas.
