This is a stunning 19th century Dutch cushion mirror having a central bevelled glass flanked with smaller plates each framed within ebony borders, and all set within intricate stamped brass repoussé work.

The impressive crest is centred by a cornucopia of flowers flanked by two large outward facing birds resting among abundant foliage comprising acanthus leaves. The ebony borders with their more simple basket-weave motif contrast with the intricate design of seashells mixed with flowers and acanthus leaves in the repoussé bands. The prominent repoussé clasps in each of the four corners also bear stylised acanthus leaves.

Dimensions: Height 76 cm (30 inch)
Width 45 cm (17 1/2 inch)

Condition: The mirror is in very good antique condition with minor marks commensurate with its age. Though the mirror plates all appear to be original the foxing is relatively minor, consequently the mirror is still very serviceable and would look splendid in a hall, landing or reception room. There is an eye screw on the reverse for hanging on a hook.
