Charming mid 19th.c. framed child’s needlework picture or sampler c.1840. A genteel red brick house, presumably the home of the creator, stands in a garden behind a low wall with a wooden gate. The household’s animals, a horse, a white rabbit and two yellow canaries are included in the scene, their exaggerated scale lending the piece a lovely naive character. A beautiful border of roses and garden flowers surrounds the picture. Excellent condition, presented behind glass in the original rosewood frame with gilt slip.
