2 x Mid-Century Plated Toast Racks, Mappin & Webb

This is a good quality Pair of Mid-Century Silver Plate Four Slice Toast Racks. The toast racks have flat rectangular bases, arched dividers and diamond shaped finger ring handles. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The toast racks were made in Sheffield by world famous silversmiths and electroplaters Mappin & Webb and date to around the 1950s/60s. One of the best known names in English silverware, the firm was originally founded in 1810 by Joseph Mappin Snr. In 1859 the company split into two parts which would become Mappin Brothers and Mappin & Webb. They were reunited when Mappin & Webb bought Mappin Brothers in 1902. The firm remained in the Mappin family until it was merged with Walker & Hall and Elkington & Co to form British Silverware in 1963.
Condition is good except that the handle on one toast rack has been knocked a little out of shape, probably by being dropped at some point in its life. There is a small amount of rubbing to the silver plate on the undersides of the bases. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each toast rack is 9cm / 3.5ins by 6.1cm / 2.4ins and stands 7.5cm / 2.9ins high. The pair together weigh in at 143.0g / 5oz.
The toast racks are marked MAPPIN & WEBB on the undersides of the bases.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
