A vintage 9CT Gold Propelling retractable Pencil.
It is hallmarked with the sponsor's mark JM&Co for Johnson, Matthey & Co, "9" and ".375" for 9 carat gold, the London town mark and date letter M for 1947/48. The top and the clip are also marked with "9" and ".375" for 9 carat gold
Also stamped MADE IN ENGLAND.
Johnson, Matthey & Co. were suppliers of pen & pencil tubing to Yard-O-Led, one of the world's leading manufacturers of fine pens and pencils.
