A 17th Century Joined Oak Press / Court Cupboard

A 17th Century Joined Oak Press / Court Cupboard
Measuring approximately 51" x 52 1/2" x 21" (width, height, depth)
A rare cupboard thought to originate from the Bradford / Halifax region of West Yorkshire.
Raised on typical molded stile feet and with rich, dark patina throughout.
The pretty foliate carved frieze with 'acorn' pendants protruding over upper stage, the central panel with excellent lozenge & flowerhead carved panel, the doors further decorated with unusual geometric pattern.
The large 3 panel central door of the lower stage with lozenge carvings thought to be synonymous with the West Yorkshire region, the initials M.F. and the date 1657
The side panels with 3 flower-heads in roundels over a matted ground are thought to be a later addition.
The central outer shelf has been cut to reveal a 'secret' compartment located underneath the upper stage.
All interior and backboards are present and appear to be original.
This cupboard is very old and has numerous imperfections, blemishes, old repairs etc
