A 29thc. majolica "Bella Donna" Deruta charger

Description
A superlative early 20thc Ulbaldo Grazia facsimile of the stunning renaissance Deruta "Bella Donna" lustreware plates, originally devised to act as a visual behavioural guide to aristocratic Umbrian women. Whilst that concept may seem ludicrous in the modern world, the presentation, by husbands, of multiple role models to their wives was de rigueur at that point in time. Whatever the purpose of the artwork, its stunning beauty is undeniable, and this piece, though relatively modern, is an artistic tour de force.
Painted in gold lustre and blue, with a bust-length profile of a lady surrounded by stylised flowerheads, set within a circular frame. Rim decoration containing alternating panels of scale blue and scrolling floral decoration.
See the photo of another Grazia Plate in the British Museum.
Unmarked.
Condition
In excellent antique condition, but with minor firing flaws, as shown. Wear commensurate with age and use.
Dimensions
41.5cm in diameter.
Payment is accepted by bank transfer, Paypal and UK personal cheque.
