A fabulous 16th century figure of St Anthony
A fabulous 16th century Flemish carved walnut figure of St Anthony the hermit.
the standing figure carved with a full beard and dressed in a hermit's robe and holding a staff and bell in his right hand with a book in his left, on a naturalistically carved integral base with a small pig, carved in the full round.
The statue is superb quality and has a lovely faded colour and patination. It has some age related losses and splits along with some wood worm damage and restoration , all commiserate with age but is otherwise in excellent condition.
