A Fine 17th Century & Later Wainscot Chair
A Fine 17th Century & Late Oak Wainscot Armchair
A pretty peg and joint fireside chair thought to originate from the Shropshire region. With good colour, manageable in size and relatively light in weight.
The pediment with foliate decoration and scrolled terminals over a rectangular scroll and 'heart' motif panel. The larger lower back panel with characteristic carved lozenge and fluttering pennants design.
The slightly down-swept arms resting on turned uprights, the plank seat supported by turned front legs and raked stile back legs adjoined by peripheral stretchers.
