A fine long case clock by Francis Perigal, London


A fine long case clock by Francis Perigal of London, with Five pillar eight day striking movement with strike / silent mechanism and Brass encased weights. The case with well figured mahogany veneers and satinwood inlays and brass strung quarter
columns to the trunk. The Pagoda top has original pierced brass cartouche. In very good working condition and lovely colour to the case. 2420mm high, 540mm wide and 260mm deep. English. Circa 1770.
Francis Perigal (2nd), was apprenticed to his father (also Francis) on 16 January 1748 and freed 5 April 1756. He was Master in 1775 and was based at 9, Threadneedle St., Royal Exchange. W J Gravener Antiques is a family owned business, started in 1963 by William who was joined by son, Mark in 1981 and continues today with the same ethos of dealing in fine quality English and Continental furniture, mirrors and decorative objects, from the 18th & 19th centuries. Now under the stewardship of Mark and his wife, Louise, we take pride in maintaining the high standards which William set more than 50 years ago.
