This handsome desk stands on square tapered legs inlaid in satinwood and marquetry depicting hare bells and ribbons, above which are two oak lined drawers. The tambour rolls back to reveal an interior, which slides forward, of small drawers, a shelf and a rising, leather writing surface. The top which is surrounded by a brass gallery has a central inlaid oval panel again with ribbons but also includes musical instruments and foliage. In very good and original condition, with original castors, locks and handles. 1070mm high, 1090mm deep and 700mm deep. Circa 1800 W J Gravener Antiques is a family owned business, started in 1963 by William who was joined by son, Mark in 1981 and continues today with the same ethos of dealing in fine quality English and Continental furniture, mirrors and decorative objects, from the 18th & 19th centuries.
