A Georgian Guernsey Longcase Clock, John Williams
A rare Guernsey Georgian longcase clock of smaller proportions. A mahogany case with an arched hood pediment with dentil cornice mouldings. Corinthian capped fluted hood side columns and side glass hood apertures. An arched trunk door and a moulded plinth panel. A very well engraved silvered dial with strike/silent to the arch. Blued steel hands with date and seconds. An 8-day duration mechanism of London quality with 5 pillars striking the hours on a bell. Brass cased weights and flat rod pendulum of London quality.
Channel Island antique clocks are seldom seen and Guernsey examples less so. This example by John Williams is circa 1780-90.
