A Late 17th Century Oak & Elm Wainscot Chair


A Substantial 17th Century Oak and Elm Wainscot Chair
Measuring approximately 41" x 23" x 23" (total height, width and depth) with a seat height of 17". An interesting large, partially enclosed fireside chair, probably Lancashire.
Raised on bold baluster turned front legs adjoined by periphoral stretchers and well patinated elm boards. The rear uprights capped with pyramid finials The cresting rail richly carved with central fan shaped flower and flanked by flowerheads and bearing the initials 'A. T' over a dual panelled back decorated with lozenges, whorls and punch work. The bulbous slightly downswept arms flanking a two piece elm plank seat.
