A late 17th century Westmoreland coffer, decorated with a finely carved fascade indicative of the westmoreland area. The top rail has the owners initals A.I and the date 1692, the chest has its original lock and hinges, with only a couple of minor restorations and some sign of old wood worm in a couple of areas.

The coffer has superb colour and patination and is in excellent condition.
