A late 19thC red lacquered Chinese jewel box lined in salmon pink quilted silk from the Cantonese area. The lid of the box which has a scalloped edge is decorated with Chinese figures originally gilded. The sides are decorated with us Chinese figures with floral decoration also originally gilded. ( The box is thought to be Chinese export and marketed firm in Paris as the original label on the base of the box indicates.)
