A Quirky Martin Brothers "Elephant Head" Vase

For sale today we have this fascinating Arts and Crafts vase by the Martin Brothers pottery. To a design by Robert Wallis Martin the vase features an unusual grotesque animal form to the neck which, to my eye, looks like a rather forlorn Tusked Elephant with bright Blue eyes. The main body of the vase features incised foliate forms contained within arched panels with applied prunts.
Stands 14cm tall x 8 1/2" across. Incised to the base 11-3-81, RW Martin, London & Southall. Dates to 1881.
In excellent condition with only some scuffing to one of the raised prunts. No chips, cracks or restoration.
