A rare early 19thC Hall Porters Chair, in mahogany and leather, this lovely chair stands on original steel castors and is upholstered in brown leather with decorative nailing and a buttoned leather squab cushion under which is a small cupboard. The chair has a framed label which states " This chair was done for 2nd (indistinct) Nov 12th 1804 by Wm (indistinct) at (indistinct) (indistinct) Marsh & Tatham, Mount St, Grosvenor Square, London. The upholstery is later but otherwise the chair is in very original condition. 1600mm high, 830mm wide and 780mm deep. English. Dated 1804 W J Gravener Antiques is a family owned business, started in 1963 by William who was joined by son, Mark in 1981 and continues today with the same ethos of dealing in fine quality English and Continental furniture, mirrors and decorative objects, from the 18th & 19th centuries. Now under the stewardship of Mark and his wife, Louise, we take pride in maintaining the high standards which William set more than 50 years ago.
