A rare Welsh Yew-wood Chest on Stand.
We feel very privileged to have this beautiful piece in our shop.Made almost entirely of solid yew, apart from the drawer linings and backboards, the surface has acquired a glorious depth of patina with a colour akin to a rich toffee.
Each of the drawers is decorated with geometric line inlay so typical of the period and the carcase surround applied with narrow mouldings of D-shaped profile.The brassware is recently replaced in appropriate style.
The stand which, unusually, is entirely original apart from the rear stretcher has legs with turnings of bold profile and fine detail.
Probably from Pembrokeshire, circa 1720-40.

The item must then be delivered back to our showroom within 14 days in the exact same condition as it left us.

Should an item not be ready for immediate delivery, we are able to hold stock at our shop in Cowbridge. Items may be subject to a storage fee where applicable.
