Air Ministry Captains Desk Chair c1930's
Air Ministry captains desk chair made of oak c1930's. A good wide and deep seat, broad arms and a design feature for these chairs being the bulbous turned legs. These captains chairs were used within the RAF offices and can be seen on many of the photographs of wartime stations. It was supplied by the crown for Military and Civil Servant use and is stamped with the crown and G.R.V. There is a manufacturers stamp on the underside but hard to read the company name due to staining, however Downley can be seen which is an area on the outskirts of High Wycombe, home to many furniture makers. Newly and fully upholstered with new padding and webbing to meet with fire regulations and covered in an antique leather. In good condition and all joints are solid.

I don't buy any items that need major restoration, but any loose joints are re-glued. Occasionally, some items may have small amounts of historic extinct woodworm, never enough to affect the integrity of the item, and is always treated as a matter of course. We try to describe and show our items the best we can, and we use studio lighting which sometimes lightens the colour slightly on some of the furniture. All lamps are rewired and PAT tested. Every item we sell we would have in our home (some of them have been!!) It is impossible to describe every item fully, so please feel free to email or call for more information or any queries you may have. The items will have no major defects but will show signs of normal age related wear and use. I would prefer the items to show its life rather than strip it and re-polish it, as it's only original once!
