All Original George II Walnut Chest of Drawers


A superb George II walnut chest in completely original condition with no later elements, repairs or restorations and of rare diminuitive proportions.
Original brassware, backboards, bottom boards, oak drawer linings and locks, original bracket feet and carcase. Second phase construction c. 1730 and in lovely condition, has never been refinished and no previous restoration or work.
The chest has a fabulous colour, particularly attractive bookmatched walnut veneers and double mouldings to the drawer surrounds. Each drawer deeply featherbanded and fitted with original batswing solid brass handles and escutcheons, attractively worn and softened.
Good deep patina to the carcase and two plank top. One lock missing from second drawer, minor dings, marks and bruises consistent with age and careful use.
From a deceased estate and with provenance.
Strongly recommended, a very rare example in original condition.

Of very small size at only 33 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 31 inches high.
