This is a fine quality antique Edwardian American desk chair, also known as a “Sheriff’s chair”, constructed from solid oak, incorporating a revolving, reclining & height adjustable mechanism, with a newly upholstered green leather seat, circa 1910, in good working condition.

Description:
This is a fine quality antique Edwardian American desk chair, also known as a “Sheriff’s chair”, constructed from solid oak, incorporating a revolving, reclining & height adjustable mechanism, with a newly upholstered green leather seat, circa 1910, in good working condition. The chair is constructed with an elegant bow-shaped top rail, above a high-back of shaped spindle bars, providing plenty of back support. The back of the chair is secured by two Bentwood style single-piece down-swept arms, secured by turned spindles below. The seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain green leather finished with brass studwork to the seat perimeter. The underside of the seat has also been re-webbed in the traditional manner. The American desk chair retains its original cast iron mechanism, which has been cleaned and serviced. The seat is height-adjustable and the chair reclines, with an adjustable working tension spring and handle. The chair rotates 360 degrees it is height adjustable (with a locking latch – see photos) and also features a reclining mechanism (the tension cannot be adjusted). The chair terminated on protruding splayed oak legs and terminates on new solid brass and brown mug castors. This oak office chair is extremely comfortable, as it boasts a high-back with a padded leather seat. This style of chair originates from North America they were particularly used in law enforcement (Sheriff) offices and also in other public offices in the latter part of the 19th century.
The American desk chair boasts a rich dark-brown oak colour this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This antique revolving office chair would look superb in a variety of rooms in either a traditional or contemporary setting, especially the office or study as it is so comfortable. We offer free delivery to mainland England, Wales, and Southern Scotland (anywhere south of Stirling). We do not offer free delivery to locations north of Stirling in Scotland, Northern Ireland, or any British Islands off the mainland for example, the Isle of Man, Isle of White and Channel Islands. Delivery times are usually 1-4 weeks depending on location we aim to deliver the majority of items within 2 weeks. All items are professionally packaged and fully insured in transit therefore, we can assure you, your items will be securely protected in transit and arrive safely with you.
Once you have purchased an item, we will contact you by email and/or telephone and provide you with a provisional delivery date, in order for you to confirm if it is suitable for you.
