Made of stained mahogany, this Arts & Crafts bookcase is of unusual design with front uprights capped with flat-topped finials. It has a three-quarter gallery with flattened cornice, three adjustable shelves and sledge feet. The planked back is made of pine stained the same colour as the mahogany.

It has lived a life and has the scratches and dents to prove it, but most of these are hidden once the shelves are holding books. One bracket beneath a capped finial has a small piece missing and the four metal brackets that support the bottom shelf have been lost (and replaced by cut sections of dowelling that are not visible when the shelf is in position).
