An early 18th century Flemish armoire constructed from walnut and pine. The armoire is lavishly decorated with applied geometric and ripple mouldings with gargoyle-like carvings, flanked by chip carved columns with chamfered lozenges and egg and dart carvings at the top, which is also repeated in the cornice.
The door opens with the original lock and key, to reveal a shelved interior with a later brass clothes rail fitted inside.
The armoire comes apart in three sections, the cornice lifts off and the central carcass lift off the base.
Overall, the armoire is in excellent condition and has a fantastic colour and surface patination.
