An Exceptional Welsh Oak Potboard Dresser
We had a couple of particularly good private house calls recently where we were very lucky to buy some extremely special pieces including this jaw dropping dresser from deep in the Cambrian mountains beyond Cwmystwyth.
A truly exceptional Welsh Oak Pot-board Dresser c1800. A traditional Ceredigion dresser renown for their simple beauty created by perfect proportions, quality timber and unique understated look. Without doubt the best example of a dresser from this region that we have seen in a long while.
Condition is absolutely outstanding throughout with not a dowel or nail out of place, the colour, patina and skin are breathtaking and it has the best quarter sawn grain we have ever seen in a dresser from this region. It stands at full original height and is superbly solid and sturdy. All drawers with beautiful original brass handles run smoothly. The perfect Welsh Dresser in every aspect.
Length 5ft 1.5” 156cm Base height 3ft 92cm. Base depth 15.5” 39cm. Rack depth 5”. Shelf depth 4”. Overall height 6ft 2” 188cm
