Ango-Indian padauk wood hanging wall cabinet

Anglo-Indian padauk wood hanging wall cabinet in fine antique condition, dating from the turn of the 20th Century.
The doors of this cabinet are finely carved in a vortex design which represents an interesting twist on the usual sunburst pattern employed by Indian craftsmen during the British Raj. The doors are separated by a gadrooned border with a shaped brass escutcheon and functioning original key to the left door. They open to reveal two shelves, with the upper shelf not extending the full width, thus enabling the accommodation of taller as well as shorter items. This cabinet would provide a useful storage space for medical supplies and other such things.
The top of the cabinet forms a shelf for displaying plates. Beneath the cabinet is a further shelf, this one attractively shaped, with a finely carved panel of foliage within a gadrooned border set onto the back board.
