Old Garden Roses
There can be very few of these complete collections available.
The demand for these wonderful life-like prints once framed has meant that few sets remain intact.
A small selection of images are shown here.

This item is offered as it was originally supplied.
It is the whole collection of mounted rose prints within the original aluminium case and it's original outer box.
The original large scale accompanying book by Stelvio Coggiatti is included.
The folios of ‘Old Garden Roses’ by Anne Marie Trechslin was produced only in this limited edition furthermore there were only 750 such sets made available in English.
The accompanying book with the collection is written by Stelvio Coggiatti who's extensive knowledge is backed up by extensive referencing.
They comprise:
40 FACSIMILES of water colour drawings of old garden roses.
All the roses are life-size and have been printed in screenless photochrome in 12-16 colours.
Dimensions: 45.5 X 32 cms (173/4 x 121/2 inches).
Each plate bears the name of the rose engraved in script and printed in grey.
The plates are mounted in overlay mounts with textured surface.
Outer dimensions 54 X 40.5 cms (21¼ x 16 inches).
Each mount is discreetly embossed with the number given in the index.
Photochrome is a screenless flat-bed impression obtained from an aluminium plate with a special bituminous coating which is sensitive to light.
The reproduction is made from grained plates and it is the graining which replaces the customary break-up of the image into minute dots of colour.
One of the few highly-qualified craftsmen capable of such delicate work prepares the plates for printing the lithographer retouches by hand all the nuances of light and shade to give a precise rendering of the original. It is only by using this painstaking craftsmanship that the plates have achieved such a high degree of accord with the originals, even to the most subtle shades, so that it is virtually impossible to differentiate between them and the originals.
In addition, thanks to the great number of colours used in separate printings, it has been possible to achieve the intensity of colour that is vital to keep faithfully to the originals.
The BOOK by Stelvio Coggiatti describing each rose measures 54 X 40.5 cms
(211/4 x 16 inches) and comprises 52 pages, 25 of which are printed in two colours.
In addition to the individual histories of the 4O roses there are also short biographies.
This large collection is heavy!
