Antique 14" Bisque Alt, Beck & Gottschlack Doll
This lovely bisque-head doll dates from c.1920. She has 'AB 1352 34' moulded into the back of her head. She has a bisque head with glass flirting sleeping eyes, and an open mouth with two teeth and a tongue. She has a jointed composition body and bent composition limbs. She retains what we believe to be her original, possibly mohair, wig, which is partially unstuck. She is wearing old, possibly original, vest and knickers, and a more modern knitted cardigan, waistband, booties and bonnet.
Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age. There are no chips or cracks to her head and her sleeping flirty eyes are in good working order. Her wig is partially unstuck. She has some grubbiness and minor scuffing to the paintwork of her head. There is some significant paint loss to her eyelids (which are now virtually without paint). Her wig is thinning with some loss and there is some loss to her eyelashes. Her body has some cracking and rubbing around the joints and some chipping to the paintwork. It is overall a little grubby. We believe her to have been restrung at some point, and her stringing is loose. Her underwear has some wear, holing, fraying and discolouration. The remainder of her clothing has some wear and slight discolouration and her waistband has some foxing.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
33cm high. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
