This is an antique artist's paint box. An English, mahogany and ebony carry case by Winsor & Newton of London, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890.
Superb artist's box from a renowned London paint specialist
Displays a desirable aged patina and remnants of media commensurate with use
Select stocks present fine grain interest and warm caramel hues throughout
Quality ceramic accessories display crisp white hues
Tasteful ebony stringing accentuates the lid edge
Dressed to the fascia with a brass circular lock escutcheon — in working order, key present
Useful interior arrangement of removable compartments over a lower sliding tray
Pair of lift-out paint trays annotated with hand written colour names, each hosts 9 hues
Charming Winsor and Newton ceramic mixing slab with maker's mark to reverse
Lower tray held in place with a pin, opens to reveal a James Newman palette
