This is an antique astragal glazed bookcase. An English, mahogany and marble display book cabinet, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1880.
Elegant Victorian bookcase with attractive proportion and fine craftsmanship
Quality stocks present fine grain interest and deep caramel hues
Astragal glazed doors bathe the interior with natural light, ideal for larger volume books
Interior replete with a pair of shelves, removable with eleven slide-in positions
Substantial Belgian marble plinth top accentuates the bookcase
Presenting an ivy green hue, the marble rich with vein interest
Right hand door dressed with an ebonised inset, working lock — key present
Shelf depth accommodates larger volumes, at a measurement of 27cm (10.75'')
Fascinating quartet of drawers reside along the lower edge of the interior
Each finished with a small wooden pull and inlaid lock escutcheons — key absent
The bookcase standing upon shaped bracket feet at each corner
Rear panelled for attractive appearance when free-standing, whilst the plinth top is removable
