This is an antique bergere suite. An English, beech and cane chair and sofa set, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
An elegant suite of fine form and upholstery
The whole displays a desirable aged patina
Generous beech frame with fine grain interest
Rich caramel hues complement the light, golden fabric
Traditionally stuffed with fabric in excellent condition - recently professionally upholstered
Generous seating heights of 50cm (19.75") to the sofa and chair
Top rail decorated with carved detail
Seat-back finished with bergere cane work in superb, taut, undamaged condition
Broad, generous arms finished with further cane bergere, terminating in rolled form
Gently curving knees frame the deep, inviting cushions
Upholstered base with piped edge delineating the lower apron, with central shell motif
Standing upon squat cabriole legs to the front, and square section legs at the rear
