This is an antique carved cherub figure. An Italian, marble Putto statue in the manner of Pietro Franchi, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.

Wonderful Grand Tour taste and a jovial sculptural subject
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Quality marble with creamy white hues, skilfully carved
Dressed to the base with a protective leather pad

Presents a figure holding a basket of small birds whilst a mischievous cat is held at bay
The traditional cherubic aesthetic captured perfectly after the original by Pietro Franchi (1817 - 1878)
Of appealing weight in the hand at 2.95kg (6.5 lb)
