This is an antique cased microscope. An English, enamelled metal and brass scientific instrument by W. Watson of London, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1920.
Attractive and appealing scientific instrument, of good quality
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Black enamelled frame presents wonderful tonality, with contrasting warm golden brass
Stained pine carry box shows rich russet hues and benefits from a working lock — key present
Interchangeable eyepiece tube over a rack and pinion main focus rail
Single magnification nosepiece resides above a square stage with mechanical slide holder
Four accessory objective lenses resting within a removable mount
Bright, good quality rotating mirror beneath the slide holder
Engraved 'Service' with the W. Watson & Sons maker's mark beneath
Further engraved with the serial number 25840, traced via records to the 1919/1920 period
Included service record card dated to 21/1/21 with magnification details
Dealer plaque to top for Frederick Jackson & Co of Manchester
