We have a top quality chest of drawers, hand made by a real Craftsman. The main body is solid ash with a gorgeous figure.. The drawers themselves are solid ash, with handmade dovetails, unlike many chests which have cheaper pine drawers. The finish was beyond repair so we had to strip and re-polish leaving some marks of wear and tear so it doesn't look new.

The fronts are solid mahogany so the maker could cut decorative bevelled edges which give a nice colour contrast with the ash.

The most impressive feature is the veneer on the drawer fronts. It is made from Tamo Ash. Mostly grown in Japan its unique figure shows a lustrous, swirling, shimmering background with an almost bubble like appearance, caused by vines that encircle the tree's trunk causing distorted growth.

It is one of the rarest and most expensive timbers in the world.

This is remarkable piece, not factory made or mass produced. If you are tired of Teak this chest will lift your house decor to another level. I have never seen such a beautiful item in 4o years as a french polisher.
