Antique Copeland Handpainted Floral Wedding Jug

Antique Copeland Handpainted Floral Presentation Wedding Jug
This beautiful and historically significant pitcher dates to 1863 and was a wedding gift. It features exquisite hand-painted decoration, with two large and finely detailed floral bouquets dominated by lush roses and complementary foliage. The floral scenes are handpainted in soft but vibrant tones, reflecting the high-quality ceramic artistry of the mid-to-late Victorian period.
To the front, the pitcher bears calligraphic dedication in deep gold sepia script: “Mr & Mrs GoLightly” married on September 5th 1863 The script is elegantly placed within a cartouche framed by a generous gilded border, adding to the presentation quality of the piece.
The use of gold trim throughout, especially around the mouth and base, enhances a rococo style jug slight age related wear to gold paint has you would expect for 160 years old. Otherwise all intact, see pictures of firing crack in the base from manufacture, but solid
A rare and poignant piece of rural English social history, this pitcher stands as both a work of art and a tangible link to a specific family and place in 19th-century.
